Late last year; I crown the XF 56mm F1.2 APD as the new king of bokeh. Now its time to meet the King’s elder brother, the XF90mm F2.
As the elder brother to the king, he is naturally taller and also heavier. To be exact he is 135 grams heavier. Auto focus is very fast at 0.14sec. Thanks to the newly-developed Quad Linear Motor. This linear motor is fast, quiet and accurate. Four magnet are used for a higher torque in this linear motor; so as to achieve fast speed and accuracy. In a nutshell; this lens is really fast.
The XF90mm is made to conquer the harsh element of this world as it a WR lens. He wears a “armor plate” that has a weather and dust resistant structure with seven seals on the lens barrel. This keeps the lens protected from rain, dust and splashes of water. He more then able work in temperatures as low as -10 degree celsius.
The short telephoto XF 90mm is ideal for portrait and sport photography. This focal length also gives the photographer enough “camouflage” distant between the subject and himself. Good enough to be close and not being notice. Especially useful for street photography. As a commercial photographer; this lens also have other application. Like products and food photography. The minimum working distant is 60cm. If one needs to move any closer, the MCEX-11 or MCEX-16 macro extension tube may be the best investment.
As the elder brother of the King of Bokeh, we need to see some samples right? Trust me; you will be really pleased. Don’t just focus on the creamy bokeh; actually the XF90mm is razor sharp even at F2!
