I have never been interested in birding. One reason is I don’t own
a telephoto lens like the XF100-400mm. Add a 1.4 or 2.0 teleconverter
one is able to zoom in to anything. The best zoom I have is XF50-140mm.
Which is nowhere close unless I am shooting Big Bird from Sesame
Street. In all honesty I think I don’t have that kind of patience to wait
for Tweety bird to pop out into my frame.
Recently I had a rare opportunity to follow a friend for a birding session
in Singapore. I brought my X100V along. Yes. You read it right, X100V.
It was an interesting session for me. The saying that goes; birds of the
same features flock together. Same goes to the birding community.
Once someone found the bird, they will all come to the place and find a
good spot and wait for that moment to capture their winning shot for
Of course I didn’t get any shot from this session but I would like to share
something else. If you don’t have a tele lens; its ok. One could still
photograph birds in the open. It’s actually pretty fun too. How should I
call it? Street birding?
Below are some photos to share and hope this will inspire a new group of
non-tele birding community. In this series, there are also some telephoto shot,
my amateur version of birding photography. Lastly do follow us @Fujifanboys.
